Jack Carson played for Floral Park last year and has since moved but his family continues to stay in touch with us and keep us up to date.
10-27-04

Just wanted to let you know Jack is doing great with ice hockey.  He loves it, although he does talk about missing roller hockey sometimes.  he is doing X-ice drills right now 2x a week and then will start full-ice in about a month, (has his first tournament against the capital team)

Thanks again for all your good "training"  He has a good grasp on the game already b/c of his season with FP.

                   Hi there!
How's the season going?  Jack is doing very well with ice hockey.  he's come such a long way with his skating & managing to actually play the game while skating :)  he actually won a goal-shooting drill @ practice the other night.

he tried goalie @ a practice & really did well for his first shot @ it.  He's one of the youngest so he's trying so hard to keep up.  he does talk about roller hockey and misses it sometimes.  He had a much easier time on the rollerblades :)

He's playing @ the Pepsi Arena (the capital district's Nassau Coliseum) in February during intermission of a River Rats game.

(We were in Floral Park last week & I encouraged a family friend to bring her 7yr old boy over to see a game and possibly sign up. )

Jack keep up the good work and continue to stay in touch with us!
(And remember once a Floral Park Screaming Eagle always a Floral Park Screaming Eagle!)

Alfred Vitsentzos

Recently he attended a ice hockey tournament at the University of Delaware, where his team placed 1st among all the teams visiting from the East Coast of the United States.  Although this is a great accomplishment in itself, a much bigger one took place after the tournament.  Two Division 1 college scouts approached my parents to inform them that they strongly feel Alfred is 100% full scholarship Division 1 college material and with the right coaching has tremendous potential to make the NHL.  Along with this good news, a Junior A scout from Canada approached my parents telling them that he would like Alfred to move to Canada to play on a Jr. A team until he was old enough to be drafted into the NHL.  Currently, Alfred has not decided if he wants to move to Canada to play Jr A ice hockey, attend a Division 1 Prep School to play in the best hockey the US has to offer outside of college, or wait another year and play for the Long Island Gulls.  I will continue to fill you in on the details, but feel that this is a great accomplishment that should be shared with the rest of our hockey community.  As a family we are very excited and only wish the best for Alfred.  More to come in the near future.......

Congratulations Alfred!

This was sent to us by Alfred's brother Mike
better known to our clinic kids and our Junior division Kings
as

Troop 4 Klondike Champions

Troop 4 won first place Saturday in Shelter Rock District’s Boy Scout Klondike Derby. Pictured (r-l) Scoutmaster Ralph Ratto, Daniel Ratto, Committee Chair Bob Schmid, Patrol Leader, Steven LaMont, Assistant Scoutmaster Rob Schmid, Tom Fangmann, Eric Schmid, Travel Coordinator Dan Fangmann, (seated) Justin Solly, Michael Tursi, and Brian Fangmann.

The Klondike Derby is a Boy Scout Winter Skills event, held every winter in the snow where Boy Scout Troops and Boy Scout Patrols compete against each other. Boys are divided into patrols and each patrol uses a Dog Type sled that uses Scout power to pull it instead of dogs. The Scouts pull the sleds that are loaded with their personal and patrol equipment. The Scouts journey through woods and fields, up and down hills and stop at different activity stations (sometimes named after Alaskan towns) where they are tested on different Scout skills. The Scouts have to use a map and compass to navigate themselves and their sleds to their destinations (each activity station). When they arrive at these stations they are timed and tested on their Scouting knowledge, their team work and their problem solving skills.

Congratulations Tommy, Justin and Michael!
